Staff Updates

We believe that people are as important as pounds.

Our clients rely on our expertise to help their families prosper, their charities create impact, and their companies grow, and in turn we rely on our staff to use their knowledge and experience to help our clients do just that. Therefore as a firm we work hard to rightly reward our staff and recognise their contributions to Wenn Townsend. We feel staff retention and progression is very important to ensuring strong client relationships, allowing you to know exactly who to contact to get your query answered, and we pride ourselves on the longevity of careers our staff have within the practice. Therefore we wanted to let you know of recent staff news, to congratulate and welcome new colleagues to the team:

Audit Department
Firstly big congratulations go to Ben Hayes FCA on being awarded recognition as a Responsible Individual. This means Ben is now able to sign off audit reports and independent examinations while continuing to run the firm’s thriving audit department, where he oversees the work of a number of experienced audit managers to provide the best possible service to the firm’s audit clients. Ben is a key member of the team and we thank him for all his work in his role as Director of Audit and Assurance.

We are also thrilled to announce Michael Laws ACA has been promoted to Audit Assistant Manager. Since joining us in 2016 Michael has proven an invaluable member of the team, having started as an audit associate he has since qualified as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant and his hard work throughout the tough recent year, helping adapt the audit process from a largely in-person experience to a more virtual one, has been rewarded with this promotion. Congratulations to Michael.

Abingdon Office
Amy Low ACA has joined the Abingdon office as Accounts Assistant Manager. Throughout her training, and since qualifying as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant in 2020, Amy has worked in practice with a variety of clients, from individuals to organisations, but in particular she enjoys helping clients to ensure compliance with their statutory duties and assist with improving their processes. Amy is keen to help clients in particular as they recover from the economic effects of Covid19 and has started by writing a useful article detailing options available if you took out a bounce back loan (read it here). We hope you will join us in welcoming Amy to the team.

Associates Joining
As a firm with strong emphasis on training and supporting the next generation of accountants and auditors, we are delighted to welcome several new associates to the team. The associates will work within the accounts and audit departments whilst studying to become Chartered and Certified Accountants. Welcome Ajay, Lauren, Shaun and Kathryn to the team.

Tax Department
We are delighted to welcome Nadia Sharif ATT to the tax department. Nadia will work as a tax adviser alongside our corporation tax, personal tax, and trusts and estates tax managers, providing specialist, expert knowledge to our clients. Nadia has a great deal of experience assisting a wide range of clients on issues from helping with HMRC enquiries, advising employers on benefits in kind, through to advising on capital gains tax and assisting companies with setting up EMI schemes. Nadia will predominantly work to advise on corporate and personal tax compliance. Best wishes to Nadia on her career with Wenn Townsend.
