In Conversation with Deborah Pluck

As our partnership chair Deborah is the true linchpin of Wenn Townsend. Since joining the firm in 1980 she has proven a tour de force, becoming the first female partner in 1989 and then becoming the first female partnership chair in 2020. Deborah’s commitment to providing outstanding service to her clients is evidenced throughout her work. Her ability to understand the challenges and opportunities faced by her clients, and find solutions to alleviate any worries they face, is evidenced in the longevity of the client relationships she has formed. Anyone who has worked with Deborah will appreciate she takes a real interest in her clients affairs, she is passionate in particular about working with educational organisations and families in the agricultural sector, with her background in these areas proving a real asset.

To find out a bit more about Deborah, and what has motivated her to get to this point in her career, we asked her a few questions:

  1. What do you enjoy most about your job?
Being involved with other people and helping with their finances especially when it evolves into long term relationships with many clients and just being part of their ‘financial’ lives.
  2. What has been the defining moment in your career to date?
Getting through the professional accountancy exams to become chartered was pretty ‘defining’ as was becoming the first female partner in this long established firm.
  3. Who would be the dream client?
I have plenty already as I am sure they know. I particularly like working closely with other financial advisors, whether it is solicitors, land agents or our own Independent Financial Advisors Lighthouse Carwood to ensure clients get good all round support.
  4. How would you want your colleagues or clients to describe you?
Helpful, professional, approachable, and completely committed to providing good service with a human touch.
  5. What do you most want to achieve in your career?
Having had a long and happy career to date, at this time of considerable worry about the future with so many anxious about the economy, their business and personal finances, anything I can do to lighten a few worries will be very gratifying.
